Lobster Bake Fundraiser

Mid-Coast Audubon invites everyone to its annual lobsterbake fundraiser at Hog Island Audubon camp with members of the Mid-Coast Audubon Board displaying their cooking talents and available to answer bird questions. An $85 donation covers boat transportation, a meal of a lobster, potato, and corn-on-the-cob all baked over an open fire on the beach, plus clams, baked onion, lemonade, coffee and dessert, and the opportunity to explore the island before or after eating.

Only 90 tickets will be sold, so don’t delay. For more information, e-mail Seafood Sue, by midnight August 25. Mail checks to Sue Schubel, 12 Audubon Road, Bremen, ME 04568. Phone if you truly must (207-380-1370), but she is often out of touch on a distant island.

The boat will depart the Audubon dock, at the end of Keene Neck Road in Bremen, at 10 am (for those who wish to hike the island), and at 1 pm; reserve your choice ahead and BYOB. Birdwatch, take a hike, swim, watch our Board members build the fire and construct the lobster bake on the beach, or just beach comb around the island until 2 pm when the lobsters will be served. The boats will ferry guests back starting at 3:30 pm. Bring your friends and family for an unforgettable day on a Maine coastal island with a traditional lobster bake.
