Listening to Nocturnal Bird Migration

October 21, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Every spring and fall, the night sky comes alive with the sound of migration as songbirds join geese, ducks, herons, gulls, shorebirds, and more in an epic exodus that is one of the great natural wonders of the world. For the last several years, author, conservationist and bird migration enthusiast Eric Masterson has been operating a nocturnal flight call station at his home in southern New Hampshire, recording and analyzing the calls of migrating birds as they pass unseen overhead. Eric will discuss this fascinating and little-known window into bird migration along with the lessons he’s learned while listening to the night sky.

This will be a free online presentation hosted by the Camden Public Library. Use this link to register for this free Zoom event.

Our presenter, Eric Masterson, works by day as a Land Specialist for the Harris Center for Conservation Education in Hancock, New Hampshire, where he runs the stewardship program for the organization’s approximately 10,000 acres of conservation easements, assists with new conservation projects, and coordinates their field trip program.
