Field Trip: Frances Perkins National Monument

Join us for a birding exploration on the grounds of the recently established Frances Perkins National Monument in Newcastle. We’ll explore the trails through gardens, fields and woods that lead to the edge of the Damariscotta River. It will be the tail-end of the breeding season, so we’ll probably encounter some young birds hatched this year and their parents. We’ll also look for early arriving migrant shorebirds along the river.
Directions: We’ll meet in the Frances Perkins National Monument parking lot at 478 River Road Newcastle, ME 04553 at 7:30 AM. For more information about the monument, visit the FPNM website.
