Field Trip: Biddeford Pool and Environs

March 12 @ 8:30 am - 3:00 pm

Common Eider by NRCM

All are welcome! You don’t need to be an Audubon member or have advanced birding skills to join us. We simply hope to instill interest in the natural world through an understanding of how birds live and thrive in our area.

For early 2022, we require that participants over the age of twelve be fully vaccinated against Covid-19. Participants are welcome to arrange carpooling among themselves, but we will not meet at a central location beforehand. The trip leader will meet participants at the actual trip site.

This trip will bring fine viewing of sea birds, raptors, and early migrants. Historically, this area has had wintering Snowy Owls. Biddeford Pool is a big sandy tidal area accessed through Hill’s Beach. Additional nearby location options include Pine Point where the Scarborough River empties into the Atlantic ocean, and Scarborough Marsh, Maine’s largest expanse of salt marsh.

We will meet at the East Point Sanctuary at 8:30 am (stay tuned for a more detailed location). For more information, or in the event of inclement weather, please call Trip Leader, Dennis McKenna, at (207) 563-8439 (home) or cell (207) 522-2891.
