Editors Talk on New Book – Birds Of Maine

January 21, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

The first comprehensive overview of Maine’s incredibly rich bird life in more than seven decades, Birds of Maine by Peter Vickery is a detailed account of all 464 species recorded in the Pine Tree State. Co-editors Barbara Vickery and Scott Weidensaul will discuss what the authors/collaborators found in terms of changes in Maine’s bird life over the past 70 years.

This will be a free online presentation hosted by the Camden Public Library. To register for the event, please email Julia Pierce (jpierce@librarycamden.org) at the library to request the Zoom login info.

Written by the late Peter Vickery in cooperation with a team of leading ornithologists, this guide offers a detailed look at the state’s dynamic avifauna with information on migration patterns and timing, current status and changes in bird abundance and distribution, and how Maine’s geography and shifting climate mold its bird life.
